Moona Aho (b. 1994) is a visual artist living and working in Helsinki. She graduated as a painter in
2025 (Vapaa Taidekoulu, Helsinki) , and is currently completing her bachelor's degree in visual arts at
Novia University of Applied Sciences in Pietarsaari. Aho has organized her own solo exhibition
and participated in several group exhibitions. Since 2023, she has been a founding member and
organizer of an art-focused event and residency programme called Maalla Art Festival Association.
Aho's artistic work focuses on the interaction between the urban environment and personal experience.
She examines random clues and subtle details in her surroundings and transforms them into abstract and
experiential entities through painting, installation, and sculpture, with an emphasis on site-specificity
and the interaction of the works with their surroundings. Aho`s work explores visibility and invisibility, sensitivity
and quiet presence, but also the possibilities of encountering the environment and other people in new ways.
